Johns County! Facilities Management provides comprehensive facilities services including property management and maintenance for all properties and buildings owned by the St. Johns Board of County Commissioners.
The Sheriff’s Complex Maintenance Division of the Facilities Management Department provides maintenance, repair, minor renovations and supervision of outside contractors for the St. Johns County Criminal Complex and related field offices. The division manages over 322,013 square feet of occupied space which includes a 664 bed correctional facility and a 100 bed Community Work Release Center. The mission of the division is to support the St.
Johns County Sheriff’s Office by providing maintenance and repair services in a cost effective, customer focused manner to maintain safe, functional, and reliable facilities.
** ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
*** Inspects, tests, calibrates, installs, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment and systems.
* Maintains computerized records and logs of daily activities.
* Demonstrates and trains subordinate employees in work methods, proper use of tools and equipment, and relevant safety precautions.
* Reports safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations.
* Inspects and performs preventative maintenance on building power distribution systems, transfer switches, panel boards, disconnects and related hardware.
* Locates and determines electrical malfunctions using various test instruments such as ammeter, and multi-meter.
* Maintains interior and exterior lighting in county buildings and parking lots.
* Maintains internet-based lighting controls.
* Repairs elevated lights with the use of ladders and high lifts.
* Repairs and maintains electrical utility services.
* Estimates labor and material requirements for electrical maintenance and repair projects. Purchases needed supplies and materials.
* Maintains tools and equipment.
* Participates in the on-call rotation and responds to after-hour repairs and outages.
* Maintains a full-time presence on the job.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
** ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
*** High school diploma or equivalent recognized certification.
* Minimum two (2) years working at a full-time position as a Licensed Master Electrician. A candidate with five (5) years of full-time experience as a Journeyman Electrician may be considered; however, candidate would be hired as an Electrician II and placed at PG15.
* Possession of a valid State of Florida or St. Johns County Class I Master Electrician License required for Electrician III designation.
* Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position.
* Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills to serve others.
* Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language.
* Must be able to operate a computer.
** ESSENTIAL SKILLS
*** Advanced knowledge of electrical theory and application.
* Advanced knowledge of the National Electric Code and OSHA Safety standards as related to work practices.
* Advanced knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the installation, repair and maintenance of high and low voltage electrical systems.
* Advanced knowledge of the skills, methods, and techniques used to determine the nominal voltages of exposed parts and components.
* Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
