Overview
Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking to fill a vacancy of Information Technologist. This is an on‑site position scheduled Monday‑Friday daytime hours. Consideration is given for relevant experience, and scheduled on‑call availability is required.
Discipline/Assignment Requirements- Knowledge of Windows Server OS and proficiency with client OS.
- Knowledgeable in configuration and management of server and client equipment to support an enterprise infrastructure of a hundred plus servers and thousands of client devices.
- Position will require aptitude to manage network equipment and cyber security technologies.
- Configuration and management of server and client devices running Windows Operating Systems and a variety of applications under guidance of senior information technologist or management. Devices also include, but are not limited to, multi‑function printers, scanners, storage, and mobile devices.
- Infrastructure systems (Server/Client/Security) administration, monitoring, incident management/troubleshooting, tracking, coordination, and reporting (e.g., performance, problem, change, capacity).
- Work on projects for variety of solutions which may require submitting items such as project plans, business case justifications, and project documentation.
- Additional qualifications as identified by the assignment.
- Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.

Under the general direction of the Information Technologist Manager, members are expected to identify and resolve intermediate technology‑based work problems of a nature that employees are unable to solve or overcome. Types of issues resolved include Enterprise Network Management, Desktop Management, Server Management, Architecture, Security Management, Incident Management, Financial Management, Project Management, Document Management, Service Management, Asset Management, Storage Area Network, and/or Middleware Management.
Work is reviewed through observation and results obtained. Requires scheduled on‑call availability.
Additional Responsibilities- Resolves escalated service desk tickets and customer reported problems.
- Troubleshoots and returns technology to service within discipline.
- Manages and performs personal daily activities and multiple intermediate‑level projects under the discipline of defined business processes.
- Identifies and analyzes intermediate‑level problems; distinguishes between relevant and irrelevant information to make logical decisions; provides solutions to problems.
- Designs and implements technology within the discipline.
- Recommends and implements changes to improve operational efficiencies.
- Works with peers and customers to achieve long‑term solutions for a variety of agency technology needs.
- Plans daily work and participates in ongoing technical projects.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required as an essential function of the position.
- This position is considered essential and, in the event of an emergency or natural disaster, will be required to report to work.
- Participates in Sheriff’s Office recruitment and community relations activities as directed.

Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Technology, or related field.
- Three (3) years related experience in information technology specific to the assigned discipline (i.e., application development, database administration, etc.) that includes customer service.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Additional qualifications as identified by the assignment.
- Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
