Supervisor Duties and Responsibility List
Objective:
To provide effective leadership, oversight, and support to staff while ensuring high-quality resident care, compliance with regulation, and effective daily operations. Supervisors are responsible for promoting a positive work environment, maintaining safety, improving performance, and ensuring policies and procedures are consistently followed.
- Supervise daily operations of the nursing department and assigned shifts
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to med techs and caregivers
- Ensure resident care plans (assignment sheets and shower logs including trash removal from rooms) are followed and updated as needed
- Monitor staff attendance, performance and provide coaching, training, and corrective action when necessary
- Ensure compliance with state regulations, company policies, and licensing standards
- Assignment of duties, and shift coverage
- Respond to resident and family concerns and resolve issues promptly and report all grievance to management immediately
- Oversee medication assistance practices in coordination with nursing team while passing medications daily
- Ensure accurate completion of documentation, reports, and incident reporting
- Conduct safety rounds and ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment
- Ensure proper communication between departments (nursing, dietary, activities, and maintenance)
- Daily shift-change with on-coming shift
- Communicates with all Drs, third part providers for new medication/orders, changes, renewals, DC’s along with any behavior changes or issues.
- Update 911 Book and Reset MORS monthly
- 11-7 check shower and assignment sheet daily; report and counsel for improper filing/documentation
- Complete daily audit of narc book and med exceptions with weekly audits for med cart including removal of all expired or discontinued medication
- Assist with audits, surveys, and inspections by regulatory agencies
- Promote resident rights, dignity, and quality of life always remaining professional.
- Have basic knowledge of medications; names and what they are for, diabetic management, resident care, infectious control, documentation, safety and emergencies, communication, HIPAA and abuse.
