Location: Onsite

Schedule: M‑F rotating shifts to be assigned 0700‑1600, 0800‑1700, and 1000‑1900 with Saturday rotation 0800‑1400.

Salary

Salary: $16.21 – $20.27 per hour based on experience

What work will you perform?

The Heavy Equipment Operator safely operates a variety of material transfer equipment and trucks used in transportation, dock yard maneuvers, does maintenance and repair activities, and performs a variety of semi‑skilled tasks. Work includes operation of a crane to lift, move, position, and reposition large heavy objects/loads.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Operate crane under general supervision.
  • Manipulate or depress crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
  • Operate forklift 3,500 lbs – 30,000 lbs with different attachments such as clamp and slip sheet.
  • Lift and position equipment or other large objects to and from platform/specialized equipment.
  • Place blocks and outriggers to prevent capsizing when lifting heavy loads.
  • Ability to identify lift points, and properly distribute weight for proper lifting techniques, and load securement.
  • Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy.
  • Must have the ability to take initiative, and direct helper.
  • Operate crane according to signals from helper, following directions carefully.
  • Start and stop crane.
  • Operate a heavy duty forklift/hyster to transfer loads and reposition onto trailing equipment.
  • Safely transfer empty and loaded trailers with a yard hostler or a truck tractor in sequence that is the most safe and efficient.
  • Inspect crane for safety issues on a daily basis.
  • Determine if any parts are malfunctioning.
  • Prepare service quality summaries, and all other necessary paperwork.
  • Responsible for and display commitment to the safety and compliance procedures of Landstar.
  • Must perform duties to the standards of the job description and comply with the company's policies, practices and procedures.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required.
  • One year of related experience and/or training.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
  • CDL License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of DOT and FHA regulations including hazardous materials regulations.
