Summary:
The Tire Technician performs routine tire mounting, balancing, and repair work on trucks and trailers under the supervision of the Foreman or shift Leadman.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
include the following, other duties as assigned.
Performs general tire changing, mounting, balancing, and repair work on heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a timely and productive manner.
Completes work orders and documents repairs according to company standards.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment in compliance with Melton and DOT standards.
Inspects trucks and trailers for additional repair and safety concerns following DOT requirements.
Assists with other truck or trailer repairs and preventative maintenance such as brakes, oil changes, fluid and filter changes, grease fifth wheel, etc.
Stock trucks to be issued with chains, binders, straps, and tarps.
Helps decommission and prepare trucks for sale.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QualificationsTwo years tire technician or diesel mechanic experience
High school diploma
Must have working knowledge of basic computer programs
Must have basic set of hand tools
CDL preferred but not required
Must be fully English/Spanish bilingual, both written and verbal.
Physical requirements include:Near & midrange vision
Hearing
Ability to work alone and under stress.
Walking, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling, twisting and reaching.
Lifting 100 pounds or more, sometimes shoulder height and above.
Using hands, wrists, elbows and shoulder for repetitive motion tasks.
Ability to work in seasonal heat and cold; amidst noise and dust.
