Position DescriptionBanquet Line Cook is an entry‑level position in the kitchen responsible for basic food preparation, assisting with large‑scale cooking/plating, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness. This role is ideal for someone new to the culinary field who is eager to learn, grow within a professional kitchen environment, and has flexible availability due to the nature of the position. Banquet Line Cook works under the direct supervision of senior cooks and supports daily kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with basic food preparation such as washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
- Follow instructions from Cook 1, Cook 2, and kitchen supervisors.
- Keep workstations clean, organized, and stocked during service.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down stations before and after shifts.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety at all times.
- Learn and practice kitchen procedures and equipment use.
- Help with receiving and storing deliveries properly.
- Dispose of trash, clean kitchen surfaces, and wash dishes as needed.
- Participate in team tasks and support other stations when required.
- At least 1 year of experience in a professional kitchen or culinary environment.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain a clean work area.
- Food Handler's Certificate (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Interest in pursuing a culinary career or gaining kitchen experience.
- Able to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a hot, fast‑paced environment.
