Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining a high standard of security and protection for college students, faculty, staff, and property.

Required- High School Degree or equivalent, 60 college hours from an accredited college or university. Six years of police experience, supplemented by specialized investigative training.
- Ten years of police experience with at least four years of criminal Investigative experience
- Knowledge of contemporary criminal investigation practices, technical and operational principles, and practices within a Criminal Investigation
- Experience directly related to interview and interrogation and court room testimony
- Minimum of three years of investigations experience assigned to detectives, homicide, narcotics, or any plain clothes division
- Experience directly related to investigating criminal acts and case preparation for prosecution
- Interview and interrogation experience and verifiable court room testimony at any level (local, State, Federal)
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
- Knowledge of contemporary criminal investigation practices, technical and operational principles, and practices within a Criminal Investigation
- Master Peace Officer, Texas Commission on Law Enforcement
- Instructor Certificate/Proficiency, Texas Commission on Law Enforcement
- Certified Criminal Investigator
- Previous Law Enforcement experience preferred.
- Utilizes advanced techniques in criminal investigations
- Maintains a close working relationship with all Department personnel, prosecutor’s office, and the college community
- Conducts thorough interview/interrogations of suspects and victims
- Maintains sound judgment within guidelines set by State law, city policy, and department policy in situations of high stress and danger

Supervision ExercisedSergeant/Investigator will supervise Police Aids that are monitoring reserved parking lots. Under direction/supervision of the Police Lieutenant, serves as investigator of criminal offenses reported within the Laredo College jurisdiction.
