The Director of Infection Control plays a vital role in reducing hospital-acquired infections (HACs), improving patient outcomes, and maintaining infection metrics below national benchmarks. This position oversees infection control practices (ICP) across all hospital units
, conducting audits, educating staff, and promoting compliance with best practices.

- Develop and oversee ICP surveillance activities to identify infection control risks.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement initiatives to minimize infection risks for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Collaborate with departments to enhance policies and procedures that strengthen infection prevention efforts.

- Required
:
Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Nursing, Public Health
, or a related field. - Preferred
:
Master’s degree in Microbiology or Nursing
. - Additional education considered with relevant experience:
- Master’s in Public Health
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Epidemiology
- International Physician Degree (validated by World Education Services [WES])
- Required
:
Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (
CBIC
) within 24 months of hire
. - Preferred
:
Medical Technologist certification (
ASCP
) or Texas R.N. License
.
- 3-5 years of clinical experience across multiple patient populations.
- 1-3 years of leadership/management experience.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs), data reporting, and analytics preferred.
Reports to the Chief Medical Officer.
