Duties- Conduct complex criminal investigations targeting narcotics and drug‑related activities.
- Prepare comprehensive and succinct investigative reports, deliver briefings to senior personnel, and coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies.
- Identify and apprehend drug traffickers and arrest individuals engaged in criminal drug activities.
- Gather and analyze evidence through investigative leads, seizures, arrests, execution of search warrants, and other means.
- Testify on behalf of the federal government in court or before grand juries.
Additional duties may be assigned based upon an individual's unique knowledge, skills, and/or experience.
Basic Agent TrainingApplicants who have not completed prior federal law‑enforcement training must attend and complete a 16‑week residential training program. Current or former 1811 applicants who have successfully completed a Federal Criminal Investigation training program through another federal agency may qualify for a 3‑week Special Agent Transition Program (FCIT transcripts must be attached).
Conditions of Employment- U.S. citizenship required.
- Must obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret security clearance.
- Must sign a mobility agreement confirming understanding and agreement to accept relocation to any DEA facility as needed.
- Pre‑employment medical clearance and annual medical examination required.
- A full‑scope polygraph is required; reciprocity available for 1811 applicants who have previously passed a polygraph.
- Male applicants born after 12/31/59 must register or be exempt from Selective Service.
- Applicants must beале at least 21 and not older than 36, unless a preference‑eligible veteran or a former federal civilian law‑enforcement employee.
- Must pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
- Selectee will be required to serve a 1‑year or 2‑year trial period, during which fitness and public interest contribution will be evaluated.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
- Incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
- Must successfully complete a 16‑week Basic Agent Training (BAT) course at the DEA Training Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

GL‑07 Level- One (1) year ling specialized experience at GL/GS‑05 level, including:
- Assisting in investigations of alleged or suspected violations of law.
- Writing reports of findings, results, or accomplishments.
- Researching, collecting, and analyzing data.
- Substitution of education:
One full Kob year of graduate level education in a relevant field, or three years of progressively higher‑level graduate education. - Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) – senior students completing within 9 months of closing date may qualify based on grades, class standing, GPA (≥mux 3.0 or 3.5), or national honor society membership.
- Combination of education and experience: combined percentage of experience and education ≥ 100 % (experience months/12 + semester hours/18).
- One (1) year of specialized experience at GL/GS‑07 level, including:
- Assisting investigate alleged violations of law.
- Collecting and analyzing data.
- Writing reports and conducting briefings.
- Meeting or corresponding with court officials.
- Assisting prosecutors and testifying or presenting evidence.
