Overview
Will assist the teacher in carrying out the educational, recreational, and social programs planned for children.
Responsibilities- Will attend lectures, conferences, and other educational programs as directed for her/his development and growth as an aide.
- Will be alert to the needs of each child in providing for their health and welfare.
- Will maintain the classroom in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
- Will be required to rotate to centers as needs arise.
- Will assist with all classroom responsibilities in the absence of the teacher and teacher aide.
- Responsible for making the morning bus trip only on an emergency basis.
- Will perform other related duties as needed.
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Preferably, some college education (child development / early childhood courses / or experience working with preschool children).
- Be bilingual and have experience in working with preschool-age children.
- Maintain all local, state, and federal guidelines for the position on an annual basis.
Occasionally
- Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 30 - 40 pounds in all directions.
- Working in low temperatures.
- Working in high temperatures.
- Working in noisy environments.
- Working in small and/or enclosed spaces.
- Working in adverse environmental conditions is expected.
- Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds.
- Medium work that includes carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
- Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle.
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this job. Pre-employment drug/alcohol and criminal background checks are required.
- Must have a driver s license and insurable transportation. If no Driver s license, must obtain within 3 months.
- This position is not covered by Civil Service; therefore, is subject to all the Webb County Policies and Webb County Head Start addendum.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License*
- If the applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver’s License must be obtained prior to employment.
