**** Job Summary
** The Minority Engineering and Science Improvement Program STEM-Squared (MSEIP-STEM2) program tutors will provide individual and group tutoring (Face-to-Face and Online) on entry-level or barrier courses such as Calculus I, II and III, University Physics I and II, Chemistry I, Ordinary Differential Equation, Linear Algebra, and Engineering Foundations, Engineering Static and Dynamic and other advanced Engineering courses as needed.
** Essential Duties and Responsibilities
*** Conduct individual or small group- tutoring sessions in which each student is actively involved in exploring and learning the material.
* Review course concepts, provide alternate explanations, and offer multiple strategies for reviewing and reinforcing information.
* Help students to identify resources and to develop problem-solving strategies they can use when studying on their own.
* Other related duties as assigned.
** Minimum Requirements
*** Must have an A or B in the class to be tutored:
Calculus I, II, and III, University Physics I and II, Chemistry I, Ordinary Differential Equation, Linear Algebra, and other engineering courses.
* Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.
* Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
* Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
** Preferred Experience and Education
*** Bilingual in English and Spanish.
* Minimum 3.0 GPA.
* Previous tutoring experience.
** Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
*** Ability to prepare and present tutorials for assigned Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry classes. Assist students in their class work and exam preparation.
* Strong computer knowledge in engineering software.
* Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
* Ability to interact effectively and professionally with university students, staff, and the general public.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.

** Other Requirements
*** Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
* Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
* Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule.
* Promptly complete all required trainings.
* Submit time sheet biweekly.
* Subject to funding and/or need.
* Curriculum Vitae.

* At least three current professional references and their full contact information.
** Pay of Rate**: $10.50/hour for up to 15 hours weekly
