This position performs specialized duties related to the department’s tax collection operations.

  • Receives and processes judges’ rulings and prepares files for individuals ordered to pay fines.
  • Corrects discrepancies, monitors compliance with court orders, and collects payments.
  • Processes motor vehicle renewals, title transfers, and other motor vehicle transactions.
  • Receives payments for property taxes, processes refund letters, and provides information to taxpayers regarding tax balances.
  • Reviews passport applications for accuracy and completeness, collects fees from Passport Agencies, and prepares transmittal reports.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the Texas Office of Court Administration, Collections Program policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of motor vehicle registration laws.
  • Knowledge of property tax policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Skill in the preparation of clear and precise reports.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
Qualifications
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Must have at least one (1) year of general work experience.
  • Must be able to type at least 30 wpm.
Complexity/Scope of Work
  • The work consists of related specialized duties. Strict regulations contribute to the complexity of the position.
  • The purpose of this position is to perform specialized duties related to the collection of taxes. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of department operations.

  • Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

  • Repeating motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Operating machinery and/or power tools.
  • Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
  • Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle for County business.
  • Working in small and/or enclosed spaces.

  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
