** Job Summary
** Community Work-Study Program The Community Work-Study Program (CWS) provides federal financial aid eligible students the opportunity to work part-time at non-profit organizations that serve the public interest.
Goals of this program include:
* Develop interest in public service through employment with TAMIU and be assigned to local non-profit, government, or community-based organizations.
* Apply skills and theories gained through coursework to solve problems and explore issues outside the classroom.
* Enhance career competencies, such as critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and leadership.
* Articulate how experiences will shape personal, academic, and professional pursuits.
** Essential
Duties & Responsibilities
** Farmers Market Coordination:
* Assist in the planning, setup, and execution of the Farmers Market events, including vendor management and layout organization.
* Act as a liaison between Laredo Main Street and market vendors, ensuring clear communication of event details and requirements.
* Promote the Farmers Market through outreach efforts, including social media updates and community engagement activities.
* Monitor event-day logistics to ensure smooth operations and a positive experience for vendors and attendees.
Office Administration:
* Provide general administrative support, such as answering calls, managing emails, and maintaining organized records and files.
* Assist with scheduling meetings and preparing materials for events or presentations.
* Manage inventory and procurement of office supplies as needed.
* Support Laredo Main Street staff with additional administrative tasks to ensure daily operations run smoothly.
Website Management:
* Regularly update and maintain the Laredo Main Street website with current information about events, programs, and news.
* Create and upload content such as event flyers, blog posts, and photos to keep the website engaging and informative.
* Monitor website functionality and report or resolve any technical issues.
* Assist with improving website layout and user experience to better serve the community and stakeholders.
** Minimum Requirements
*** Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.
* Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduates students.
* Must have a current and complete file with the Office of Financial Aid.
* Must demonstrate financial need by submitting a FAFSA application annually.
* Must be a U.S. citizen, or permanent residence, or has an alien registration number.an eligible non-citizen.
* · Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
