Following retirement of the current post-holder, we are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated pharmacist to lead clinical pharmacy services for NHS Forth Valley’s Women & Children’s Directorate. As Senior Clinical Pharmacist for Women & Children’s Services, you will deliver expert pharmaceutical care across paediatrics, neonatal, maternity and gynaecology services. This means ensuring the safe, effective and person-centred use of medicines for some of the most vulnerable patient groups.

You will provide clinical leadership and oversight for all aspects of medicines management in these areas, supporting multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead clinical pharmacy services across paediatrics, neonatal, maternity and gynaecology services.
  • Deliver person-centred pharmaceutical care and support complex prescribing e.g. Parenteral Nutrition for neonatal.
  • Support medicines safety and clinical governance functions across the directorate.
  • Collaborate with MDTs to optimise prescribing, reduce harm and improve outcomes.
  • Lead quality improvement projects to drive service development and measurable impact.
  • Line manage the Specialist Pharmacist for Women & Children’s Services, providing mentorship, support and professional development.
  • Provide sound advice to the Acute Pharmacy Leadership Team and board wide Pharmacy Leadership Team on matters relating to the Women & Children’s Directorate.

There is a requirement to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. More information on this scheme can be found at the PVG site.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
