Avian Biologists needed for raptor surveys near Laramie, Wyoming.

HWA Wildlife Consulting, LLC (HWA) is a natural resource (wildlife and plant) consulting firm based in Laramie, Wyoming that specializes in wildlife monitoring, regulatory compliance, impact assessment, and wildlife research. We are looking for motivated avian biologists to join our team to assist with avian surveys and monitoring, primarily in and around wind development sites near Laramie, Wyoming. Duties include observing eagles and other raptors, collecting observation data, and curtailing wind turbines.

Positions will begin January 1, 2026 for 6-months, with potential for extension. Shared field housing in Laramie is available.

Work Details: Work weeks include 4-5 days a week and will involve working on weekends and holidays. Field work will take place in remote locations requiring field navigation, careful observation, documentation, and data recording.

REQUIRED Qualifications:
  • A.S. or B.S. degree in Wildlife, Natural Resources, Ecology, or related field.
  • Ability to travel and perform field work over weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to identify common avian species of Wyoming, especially eagles and other raptor species.
  • Adherence to strict safety protocols and sound judgement in the field.
  • Experience driving in winter conditions and operating a 4WD vehicle.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Drug screening (pre-employment and random testing) is required.

Project Duration: January 1 to August 1, 2026

Compensation: $19-22/hour based on experience. Work truck and housing provided.
