Our New Hires Start Out As Police Recruits. After Approximately Eight Months Of Initial Training And Upon The Successful Completion Of The Field Training Program, Officers Are Moved To Police Officer Status. After The Initial Probationary Period, Police Officers Can Apply For Special Assignments, Including

• Support Services Officer
• Drug Task Force Officer
• Training Officer

A Majority Of Laramie Police Officers Work In The Patrol Unit Of The Operations Division. In Addition To Their Patrol Assignments, Opportunities Exist For Officers To Become Instructors In a Variety Of Specialized Fields, Including

• Firearms
• Custody and Control
• Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVO)
• Radar/Laser
• TASER/Less Lethal
• Crisis Negotiations Team
