Position Summary and Key Duties- Under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer, the District Coordinator of Professional Development will lead the District’s effort to train and develop teachers and support staff. The Coordinator is responsible for setting the vision, strategy, and priorities for the professional development of teachers, and working closely with the Chief Academic Officer to implement professional learning related to the district strategic plan, program implementation, and current best practices anchored in research.
The Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and/or facilitating professional learning for teachers and building-level facilitators in a variety of settings, including one-on-one coaching, as well as small and large group training. - The Professional Development Coordinator position is a ten-month position. The position is paid on the Certified Salary Schedule and is provided additional compensation for work outside of the normal certified schedule.

CHARACTERISTIC
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitates the collaborative creation of a strategic professional learning plan for the District, which includes a continuum of professional development and support services for a range of leaders and teachers, from emerging to experienced staff. *
- Designs, implements, and facilitates teacher professional development. *
- Works strategically with the Chief Academic Officer and facilitator team to develop new teacher support with blended professional development opportunities. *
- Designs, implements, and coordinates professional development sessions and activities, as well as a mentorship program for teachers and emerging teachers in collaboration with the Chief Academic Officer and University of Wyoming partners. *
- Conducts various needs assessments to determine training needs at the school and District levels; delivers specific professional development aligned with the District strategic plan, goals, and objectives; assesses the effectiveness of training. *
- Coordinates with internal and external principal/leadership professional development providers; identifies and prepares internal and external facilitators for teacher development and meetings. *
- Coordinates the planning and implementation of the annual Teacher Professional Development days each school year. *
- Designs and implements a year-long instructional facilitator professional development plan that allows facilitators to learn to facilitate learning in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings. *
- Improves leadership and facilitation skills through self-initiated professional development. *
- Follows the policies and procedures of the school(s) and the District. *
- Participates in professional growth (such as professional organizations, coursework, workshops, and conferences) and other professional activities (such as school and/or District committees, taskforces, in-depth studies, or councils). *
- Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately; exhibiting sensitivity to those with special needs; maintaining good professional relationships with parents and community members; and presenting a good role model. *

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Required:
- Prior facilitation and coaching experience.
- Knowledge of PLC structures, goal setting, and instructional design.
- Ability to plan and conduct small and large professional development training.
- Ability to communicate with multiple and varied District stakeholders and plan, implement, and evaluate professional learning experiences for leadership staff effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure and effectively manage and complete multiple tasks with competing deadlines and priorities.
- Ability to assess system-wide staff development needs.
- Ability to set high goals and develop long-range plans.
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate training programs.
- Ability to simultaneously plan for long-term and short-term goals.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
