Ice Skating Instructor

Salary $11.20 - $14.34 per hour, depending upon experience

The City of Laramie is accepting applications for an Ice Skating Instructor. This position will instruct youth and adults in the Learn to Skate program including levels from beginners through freestyle as well as skating technical aspects and presentations. They will assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing two ice skating shows each season as well as promote the figure skating club, lessons and the sport of figure skating.

• Assist students in selecting the appropriate skate and putting them on properly.
• Communication with students and parents.
• Oversee the safety of students and enforce rules on the ice and in the ice arena.
• Teach skating lessons using the Learn to Skate program guidelines, as assigned by the Skate Director.
• Identify hazards and unsafe practices and to make suitable recommendations for minimizing or eliminating those hazards.

• Ability to work independently.
• Past experience teaching ice skating to children and/or adults.
• Excellent customer service skills, ability to communicate verbally and in written form.
• Capable of taking direction and instruction from supervisors.
• Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to ice activities.
• Current CPR certification and First Aid training completion and certification.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Demonstrate ability for self-motivation and taking initiative as well as good work ethic, good attitude, leadership, maturity, ability to calmly communicate.
• Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to recreational activities and the Ice Arena.
• Ability to create and maintain enthusiasm among participants.
• USFS Certificates
• Willingness to continue education as an ice-skating instructor.
