PRN Therapist – River Place Behavioral Health

River Place Behavioral Health is located in LaPlace, Louisiana, 20 miles west of New Orleans and 40 miles east of Baton Rouge. Our state-of-the-art facility opened in 2018 and provides acute inpatient care for adults with bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and other mental health concerns. We also serve adults who have a primary mental health diagnosis and a co-occurring substance use disorder.

The PRN Therapist provides therapeutic services to individuals and families on a flexible, non-full-time basis.

The therapist applies psychotherapeutic techniques to assess, diagnose, and treat emotional and mental health disorders. The role includes conducting individual, group, or family therapy, completing psychosocial assessments, developing and updating treatment and discharge plans, and coordinating services to support patient care.

• Apply psychotherapeutic techniques and interventions in the delivery of services to individuals and families for the treatment of diagnosed emotional and mental disorders.
• Conduct individual, group, or family therapy as appropriate for the treatment plan.
• Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop initial discharge plans.
• Provide initial treatment planning based on assessment and coordinate additional services as needed; revise plans as necessary.
• Maintain documentation of therapy services according to facility and professional standards; revise as necessary.
• Maintain a caseload as assigned.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with staff to facilitate services per the patient’s treatment plan.
• May provide services in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
• Provide case management, discharge planning, or after-care planning according to treatment plans.
• May assist in educating and training staff on behavior management or therapeutic crisis intervention.
• Coordinate clinical, psychosocial, or educational activities with patients and families.
• Evaluate patient needs and determine referrals to other programs or facilities as needed.
• May assist in training new clinical staff and interns.
• Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude; acknowledge and resolve patient complaints when needs are not met; prioritize patient safety.

• LMSW, LCSW, or LPC required.
• Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or other therapeutic field.
• Four or more years of experience as a therapist, with two or more years of experience with the facility’s population.
• State or national licensure for professional therapy providers required.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.
