Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Full-time / 3rd Shift – Millville Place at Hope Network
Join to apply for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at Hope Network. This position provides medically necessary, appropriate personal care and community living supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, severe mental illness, and/or co-occurring diagnoses. The DSP may assist in areas of mobility, activities of daily living, communication, cognition, health management, social networking, vocational activities, leisure time management, and community participation.
Responsibilities- Provide personal care and supports to individuals in daily living and community settings.
- Assist in areas of mobility, communication, cognition, health management, social networking, vocational activities, leisure time management, and community participation.
- Safety: monitor and ensure safety 24/7 (e.g., eyes-on supervision, one-on-one, 15 or 30 minute checks).
- Support crisis prevention, intervention, and resolution.
- Establish collaborative relationships built on trust and empathy through consistent and meaningful communication.
- Foster partnerships with individuals served, the community, and other professionals.
- Help individuals identify and participate in social and leisure activities and assist with activities of daily living (e.g., dressing, bathing, grooming, dining, transport).
- Monitor health indicators, promote positive behavior, attend medical appointments, and relay information between medical providers and the care team.
- Understand, read, and assist in implementing medical, behavioral, and clinical team care plans; document accurately and timely.
- Support community connections and participation in employment, education, and volunteering opportunities.
- You possess a strong desire to help others with empathy, patience, understanding, enthusiasm, and dedication.
- Trustworthiness, integrity, and honesty; respect for diversity and inclusion.
- Professionalism in communication, reliability, teamwork, attendance, accuracy, and punctuality.
- Commitment to continuous education, training, and personal development.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; ability to become CPR/First Aid certified; basic computer skills.
