DEFINITION
To supervise staff, maintain pools in a safe and sanitary condition, and properly handle all monies associated with the daily operations of swimming pool revenue collection. The pool manager is also responsible for assisting the public with questions or concerns and maintaining effective customer service relations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISEDReceives direct supervision from the Head Aquatics Coordinator and Assistant Aquatic Coordinators. Exercises direct supervision over all Headguard and Lifeguard staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Promote and stimulate good relationships with the public and staff.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner.
- Supervise pool staff and operations on a daily/shift basis, including evening pool party rentals.
- Operate admissions cash register and all other components of the admissions operations.
- Complete all required reports and records on schedule and submit them to the Aquatic Coordinators.
- Eliminate or minimize hazardous situations while observing and enforcing all rules and regulations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary facility.
- Organize daily pool setup and cleanup.
- Greet patrons entering and exiting the facility.
- Check all coolers and enforce swim wear requirements. Attend all in-service trainings and managerial meetings as scheduled.
- Communicate daily with the Aquatic Coordinators regarding pool operations and revenue collections. Prepare cash report and deposit revenue daily.
- Evaluate pool staff throughout each shift. Issue disciplinary write-ups whenever warranted.
- Assist in covering open shifts for all positions.
- Verify staff time sheets, chemical logs, and shift reports.
- Maintain professional contact with the Pool Maintenance Technician for needed service or repairs.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- For indefinite periods of time - exposure to the outdoors and extreme heat; exposure to fumes, odors, mechanical, electrical, explosive, radiation, and chemical hazards
- grasping; climbing; cleaning; reading; decision making; reaching above shoulder level
- pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds; carrying up to 50 pounds
- using both hands for simple and firm grasping; clarity of hearing; fine finger manipulation
- operation of a calculator, pool vacuum, pool mechanical equipment, and a variety of hand tools.
Ability to:
- Be available to work 4 - 5 days per week including some weekends, with reliable transportation.
- Perform basic math when handling cash transactions. Write legibly.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with all subordinate staff, supervisors, and patrons.
Two years of increasingly responsible work experience, including one year of experience in a supervisory role, is desired.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATESPossession of both a current American Red Cross First Aid & CPR w/AED Certification and a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification is required or will be renewed upon hire.
