Position Overview: Plant Operator is responsible for controlling and maintaining heavy machinery and equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency on construction sites.

• Ability to safely, accurately, and efficiently help operate various pieces of heavy equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance: clean up around the job site and surrounding area. Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on machinery to ensure it is in safe working condition. Lubricate and perform general maintenance.
• Follow safety protocols: follow directions, adhere to all safety regulations and workplace standards to minimize risks and promote a safe working environment. Obey applicable traffic laws, rules, and regulations. Actively participate in weekly safety meetings (Tool Box Talks).
• Load and unload materials: assist in loading and unloading materials or equipment as required.
• Report issues: promptly report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and incidents to supervisors. Report defects, accidents, or violations.
• Collaborate with team members: work closely with other crew members to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule. Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.

• Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
• Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
• Report to the assigned job site in proper work attire ready to begin at the designated start time.
• Individuals are required to wear PPE, steel-toed footwear, and safety glasses.

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous experience helping operate or working around heavy equipment
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• CDL preferred
• The ability to pass pre-employment screening and testing
• Strict adherence to safety requirements, procedures, and PPE policies

The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Work is performed outdoors, on a job site, in extreme weather conditions and for extended hours.
• Work environment may involve exposure to high levels of noise, dirt, grease, and dust typical of a construction project.
• Employee regularly works with or near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
• Work may involve form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, asphalt and concrete.
• Operations may involve moving mechanical parts, uneven surfaces, varying weather conditions, and exposure to wet, humid conditions and extreme temperatures.
• Occasional exposure to vibration.
• Noise levels may require protective equipment at some facilities.

• Reading and interpreting safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; writing routine reports; effective communication.
• Basic math: adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing; understanding rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
• Vision includes color, distance, peripheral, depth, and focus perception.
• Ability to perform activities at heights and navigate ladders, scaffolds, and stairs; climbing and balancing as needed.
• Physical work requiring walking, standing, sitting, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crawling, crouching, and lifting up to 50 lbs without assistance.
• Ability to operate equipment under extreme temperatures and for extended hours; flexible schedule based on project needs.
