Business Development Manager
Under general supervision, the Business Development Manager is responsible for aggressively marketing the J.B. Hunt brand to engage prospective customers and generate volume. The incumbent evaluates transportation requirements, proposes customized solutions, aligns internal teams for implementation, and transfers accounts to internal sales personnel for continuous management.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct lead generation activities, focusing on cold calling and in-person meetings.
- Identify and secure new customer relationships through consultative selling and dynamic pipeline management.
- Travel to prospective customers for in-person presentations and stakeholder rapport building.
- Facilitate contract negotiations, pricing discussions, and alignment with company goals and client expectations.
- Stay informed of industry trends and adjust sales strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
- Deliver compelling presentations tailored to customer needs, emphasizing value propositions.
- Coordinate with internal teams and customers to implement solutions, including kick‑off participation.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2–3 years of sales, account management, or relevant experience, with at least 1 year of North American Truckload experience.
- Demonstrated skills: accuracy, attention to detail, effective communication, establishing trust, flexibility, problem solving, product knowledge, sales closing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Public Relations, Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- 2–3 years of sales or account management experience, with at least one year of North American Truckload experience.
Base salary range may include bonuses and incentives based on company plans and performance. Additional annual bonus and incentive potential are available.
