Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department role in Michigan requiring an active MI RN license and trauma expertise.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital Emergency Department designated as a Level I Trauma Center, Stroke Center, Heart Center, and includes a Pediatric Emergency Department
- Patient ratios typically range from 1:5-6, but may be as high as 1:8 during periods of high volume or holidays
- Night shifts (4x12 hours) from 19:00 to 07:30
- Required to work three weekends (Friday through Sunday) per four-week schedule, with variation in the number of days per weekend
- Travelers may be floated to pediatric assignments
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses Epic EMR; experience preferred, training provided during orientation
- Responsibilities include caring for adult and pediatric patients in high-acuity, fast-paced trauma and cardiac emergency settings
- Candidates must acknowledge and be comfortable with high patient ratios typical of a busy Level I Trauma Center
- Must be willing to work at least two out of three major winter holidays, with no requests allowed for both the holiday and the adjacent day
- A maximum of five days of requested time off (RTO) allowed per assignment, and all time off must be submitted with the application
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Returning staff or travelers must wait 12 months before being eligible to return
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travel candidates
- Active MI RN license required by start date; compact licenses not accepted
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS (AHA), PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS; ENPC preferred
- Minimum two years of nursing experience required
- Prior Level I Trauma Center emergency nursing experience is required
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias necessary
- Proof of high school education or equivalent required
- Epic charting experience preferred
