Job Description

We are seeking a "Jack-Of-All," Unicorn Candidate, Gearbox Assembler who is unafraid of work to join our manufacturing team in Addison, Illinois.

Must be detail-oriented, have a can/will-do mindset ("that's not my job" simply won't cut it...), and be willing to relocate (assistance is available). Once up to speed, there will also be a mentoring / training component to the role to help build out the team.

This role is responsible for the precision assembly of industrial gearboxes and related mechanical components. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on assembly experience, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and assembly instructions.

Pay is $36/hour with all-you-can-eat overtime available.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble industrial gearboxes, subassemblies, and components according to blueprints and work instructions
• Interpret mechanical drawings, bills of materials, and assembly schematics
• Install gears, bearings, seals, shafts, and housings with close attention to tolerance and alignment
• Measure and verify component dimensions using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators)
• Perform torquing, shimming, and backlash adjustments to meet quality standards
• Conduct functional testing and inspections of completed assemblies
• Identify and troubleshoot assembly or fitment issues
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety and 5S standards
• Collaborate with quality, engineering, and production teams to ensure product accuracy and on-time delivery

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of gearbox assembly or heavy mechanical assembly experience required
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation
• Proficient with hand tools, torque tools, and precision measuring instruments
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• High school diploma or GED required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in industrial manufacturing, power transmission, or heavy equipment environments strongly preferred
• Experience working with bearings, gear sets, shafts, and housings highly desirable
• Technical/vocational training is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Standing, bending, and working on the production floor for extended periods
• Comfortable working with oils, lubricants, and industrial materials
