The Material Handling Technician supports day‑to‑day movement, staging, and inventory control of materials in a warehouse or production setting. This role is responsible for loading, unloading, and organizing supplies to support efficient operations. It ensures materials are delivered to the appropriate departments in a timely and safe manner, contributing to workflow accuracy and production readiness.
Essential Functions- Move and transport materials safely between workstations, storage, and shipping areas.
- Label, stage, count and organize items to support efficient material flow.
- Perform basic material checks and alert supervisors of damaged goods.
- Safely load, unload, move, and stage materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other handling equipment.
- Assist with general packaging, stocking, and warehouse organization.
- Follow safety procedures and report any hazards or incidents promptly.
- Maintain accurate documentation and update the Exenta system to reflect material, cut parts and trims movement through various production stages.
- Scan in the receipt of raw materials into company ERP system.
- Support cycle counts and inventory audits to ensure data accuracy.
- Understand and explain the receiving to staging workflow to internal customers/partners as needed.
- Maintain a strong understanding of barcode/RFID systems.
- Report equipment malfunctions and assist in basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with warehouse and planning staff to prioritize urgent material needs.
- As required by some customer contracts, Peckham employees may be required to obtain and maintain relevant professional certifications and/or security clearances as a condition of employment. This requirement will be determined based on the specific needs of contract.

- Regular and predictable attendance is required to support the team and operations.

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1 to 2 years experience working in a manufacturing or apparel sewing environment.
- Basic understanding of warehouse operations, including receiving, staging, and material flow processes.
- Familiarity with safe material handling practices, OSHA regulations, and proper use of PPE.
- 6 months to 1 year experience working in warehouse, shipping, or receiving operations.
- Forklift certification.
This position requires regular physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and operating heavy machinery. Employees may also engage in bending, reaching, and repetitive motions. Work is conducted in an environment with frequent exposure to noise, artificial lighting, and limited natural light. Occasional exposure to temperature changes, hazards, and heights may occur, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
