Does this opportunity interest you? Michigan Millers Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a Commercial Lines Associate Underwriter to join our team. The individual in this role will be responsible for creating strong agency relationships that operate under a designated level of authority at the direction of assigned underwriters. This position will develop profitable premium growth through policy processing and technical support for both new and renewal business.
Responsibilities- Engage in the daily underwriting and processing of new and renewal business, endorsements, and premium audit transactions.
- Utilize established practices, processes, and procedures to renew and write new policies based on underwriting authority.
- Review new and renewal business application documents and gather additional information as needed to accurately underwrite policies.
- Understand rating methodology and coverage.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Ability to follow processes and maintain strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of industry practices, standards, and underwriting concepts.
- Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to multitask and solve basic problems.
- Flexibility to handle various assignments.
- Valid and unrestricted driver s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Bachelor s degree in insurance or finance; experience in lieu of a degree acceptable.
- AU, INS, or other insurance related certification.
The targeted hiring range for this role is $51,455 - $61,750 annually. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate, as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and/or may be considered for other positions.
