Position: Security (SOC) Analyst
Description
The Cybersecurity Analyst is responsible for protecting legislative information systems, data, and services. The role emphasizes confidentiality, integrity, availability, transparency, and compliance with government regulations, while supporting legislators, staff, and constituents.
This position operates within a risk-managed, compliance-driven framework. Success is measured by risk reduction, service continuity, audit readiness, and public trust.

. Security Operations & Incident Response
Monitor, detect, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity threats targeting networks, endpoints, cloud services, and legislative applications.
Example:
Reviewing alerts in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Defender for Office 365 to identify suspicious process execution, malicious email payloads, or abnormal endpoint behavior
Triage alerts from SIEM, EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response), email security, and network security tools.
Example:
Correlating Microsoft Defender XDR incidents with Entra  signins to determine whether a phishing email led to credential compromise and lateral movement.
Lead or support incident response activities, including containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident reporting.
Example:
Isolating an endpoint via Defender for Endpoint, forcing password resets through Entra , and validating remediation before restoring user access.
Maintain incident response playbooks aligned with government standards.
Example:
Documenting response steps for phishing, malware, and risky signin incidents using Microsoft native telemetry and audit logs.
2. Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC)
Support compliance with applicable frameworks and mandates, such as:
o NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)
o NIST SP 800-53 / 800-61 / 800-171 / 800-63B (as applicable)
o Cybersecurity policies and standards
o Records retention
o CIS Benchmarks
Participate in audits and assessments
3. Vulnerability & Threat Management
Conduct regular vulnerability scanning and risk analysis.
Coordinate remediation with IT operations and vendors.
Track emerging threats relevant to government and legislative bodies (e.g., phishing, ransomware, nation-state activity).
4. Data Protection & Privacy
Protect sensitive legislative, personnel, and constituent data.
Apply least-privilege access controls and data classification standards.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00/hr.
