Under general direction, performs professional and supervisory work in the administration and operation of the Technical Services Department. Serves as lead systems administrator responsible for the reliability, security, and performance of the City’s enterprise infrastructure, including servers, network systems, virtual environments, cloud environments, and related technologies. Assists with departmental budgeting and acts in the Director’s absence as assigned.

Education and Experience- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, or a closely related field.
- Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, preferably in a public sector environment.
- Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Possession and maintenance of a State of Michigan driver’s license.
Knowledge of- Enterprise systems administration including Windows Server, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware), and cloud environments (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure).
- IP Phone, video surveillance, and related infrastructure technologies.
- Cybersecurity principles, threat mitigation, system integrity controls, and risk management.
- Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity practices.
- Network architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Hardware and software evaluation, procurement, and lifecycle management.
- Basic budgeting practices and departmental resource planning.
- Diagnosing and resolving complex technical and infrastructure issues.
