Business Process Reengineering

Duration: 1 year with a desire for contractor to convert to full time with SOMI in 1-2 years. At the time of conversion, the candidate must be authorized to work in the US without VISA sponsorship by the State of Michigan.

Position location:

Lansing, MI. The resource will be working a hybrid schedule. No remote only option. The candidate will need to be onsite from day one, two days a week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays).

Local candidates only. Candidates must be located in the State of Michigan within 1 hour of Lansing, MI at the time of submission.

Business Process Reengineering Specialist

Objective: 75% effort on requirements gathering for an upcoming IT project. 25% of effort to use existing templates to create content/reference material for business analyst and quality assurance roles and business subject matter experts to create cohesiveness between business, technical staff, and the project management office. Ultimately this will also benefit production support activities in terms of management of the Azure Dev Ops backlog, user stories, and management of Azure Dev Ops cards for work progress.

The Business Process Reengineering Specialist (BPRS) is responsible for gathering and documenting clear, unambiguous, and testable business requirements from the client, and understanding the business requirements thoroughly in order to communicate business needs and system functionality to technical and non-technical stakeholders, project team members, and the user community. The BPRS works with the project team and stakeholders to examine existing and future-state business processes, data, and systems, guiding the gathering of business requirements as they relate to the desired system functionality.

The BPRS will provide training/shadowing/coaching to existing and upcoming BA/QA roles and SMEs, tailoring existing content and processes to the business area needs, from standards, policies, procedures, and existing/provided templates. The BPRS will add context for using Azure Dev Ops to create project artifacts on a fast-paced agile development and maintenance delivery team.

Responsibilities include facilitating requirement gathering meetings to identify impacted business processes and document project business requirements, adhering to the project schedule by developing and maintaining the project backlog during agile projects, working with the product owner to set priorities, understanding project scope, monitoring requirements to ensure adherence to objectives, understanding high-level information governance objectives, ensuring stakeholder inclusion and awareness regarding data requirements, resolving critical IT issues related to the BPRS role, providing information and analysis for Build vs.

Buy decisions, and understanding project-specific benefits and impact of changes to scope or requirements. The BPRS also ensures SEM deliverables are completed, reviewed, and approved in alignment with area processes, working directly with the project team including UI/UX architects, database administrators, developers, QA testers, and others to ensure clarity of requirements, functionality, size, and scalability of the IT solution.

The ideal candidate will have a training/teaching background and a proven track record in the subject matter area of business analyst/quality assurance process and process improvement in an agile environment using Azure Dev Ops as the tool. Strong oral/written communication skills are required.
