Job SummaryThe Senior Data Warehouse / BI Analyst is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise data warehouse applications on the State of Michigan's Teradata Data Warehouse platform. This role supports Michigan DHHS initiatives by delivering ETL solutions, data marts, reports, dashboards, and analytical data products while coordinating with cross-functional data warehouse and agency teams.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain Teradata-based data warehouse solutions including ETL processes and data marts
- Develop and support BI reports, dashboards, and analytical queries to meet business and agency needs
- Work cross-functionally across ETL and BI activities, supporting end-to-end data delivery
- Collaborate with data modelers, developers, architects, DBAs, and agency stakeholders on complex projects
- Review and enhance existing data warehouse standards, policies, and practices
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Support Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, or related human services data environments
- Use SQL Assistant / Teradata Studio to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries
- Provide production support, change management, and disaster recovery input for DW systems
- Assist with test planning, security validation, audit compliance, and documentation
- Serve as a technical lead, providing guidance and direction to development staff
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to business and technical audiences
- Strong experience developing Data Warehouse and BI solutions
- Hands-on ETL and data mart development
- Reporting and dashboard development experience
- Teradata SQL development using SQL Assistant / Teradata Studio
- Experience supporting Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice, or related human services systems
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
- Experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks
- Familiarity with State of Michigan PMM / SUITE / Agile methodology
- End-user training and client-facing experience
- Experience working in state or public-sector environments
