Job Description

Seeking a Senior Business Analyst to assist with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) Grants Management System known as Nex Sys. The MDE Grants Management System comprises over 100 grant applications responsible for managing over 2 billion dollars in payments to educational entities.

The ideal candidate will have experience with the software development lifecycle, managing work requests to support operational needs for web applications, and gathering requirements for projects. This role acts as a liaison between the technical team and the business client, with approximately 90% of the time dedicated to this function. As a senior position, the candidate should possess leadership skills, including delegating tasks, effective communication, and leading a team of business analysts and requirement meetings with both business and technical stakeholders.

Tasks
  • Facilitate meetings with technical teams and business clients
  • Gather requirements and project specifications independently during requirement sessions
  • Maintain a backlog of work items in Azure Dev Ops
  • Operate in a hybrid (Agile/Waterfall) environment, managing requirements, change requests, and testing needs
  • Manage project tasks, timelines, and communication between product owners and development teams within the Change Management lifecycle
  • Track sprints and ticket progress in Azure Dev Ops
  • Ensure adherence to department change management policies
  • Act as a liaison with auditors
  • Maintain project documentation on Share Point
  • Be a self-starter, detail-oriented, and a critical thinker
  • Provide management with project status reports and resource demand projections
  • Collaborate with the team, management, and partners to improve processes continually
