Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greet and welcome guests with a warm, sincere smile
  • Engage in friendly conversation with guests and accommodating their seating requests
  • Interact with restaurant guests, fellow employees, and managers in a polite, courteous and hospitable manner to ensure gracious hospitability
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to grooming standards
  • Be a beacon of warmth, polish and professionalism for our guests
  • Anticipate and accommodate needs of guests
  • Maintain the general cleanliness and orderliness of the entrance area
  • Takes and processes reservations for guests
  • Assists with incoming calls and answering questions from guests
  • Learn by listening, observing other team members and sharing knowledge while leading by example
  • Works as a part of a team and provides help and support to all fellow team members
  • Assist with clearing, cleaning and resetting tables
Specific job knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Communication skills, written or verbal, in the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math.
  • Ability to navigate necessary software and applications.
  • Ability to comply with local laws regarding food handling or serving of alcohol, including the ability to take and pass the Serv Safe Alcohol Safety class and exam.
  • Knowledge of table service standards and appropriate table settings and service ware, as well as knowledge of all menu items and methods of preparation.
  • Ability to engage with guests and colleagues.
Physical demands
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10 º

    F) and kitchens (+110 º

    F), possibly for one hour or more.
  • Must be able to lift and transport items weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular and continuing basis; frequently lift and transport items up to 25 pounds, maneuver carts or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
  • Must be able to maneuver between tables and in tight spaces.
  • Must be able to position self to fulfill cleaning tasks.
Requirements

A high school or equivalent education is preferred. Six months of prior food service experience preferred.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.

Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing rules and regulations for the safe and effective operations of the Hotel’s facilities. Associates who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subjects to disciplinary action, up to and including, separation.
