Full‑Time Refugee Medical (Licensed Practical Nurse) Coordinator
Location: Lansing, MI
Pay: $54,080.00 annually

In this vital role, you’ll coordinate essential medical care for youth — from securing providers and managing billing to ensuring timely appointments and follow‑up visits. You’ll serve as the key connection between healthcare providers, program staff, and the Office of Refugee Resettlement to make sure every child receives the medical attention they need with dignity and care.
What You’ll Do- Coordinate medical billing and appointment scheduling for youth in care
- Secure medical providers and educate them on the Treatment Authorization Referral (TAR) billing process
- Act as liaison between medical providers and the Office of Refugee Resettlement to resolve billing issues and outstanding claims
- Provide TAR assistance to staff and providers by answering questions and submitting billing information
- Arrange medical appointments for initial physicals, follow‑up visits, and specialty care within required time frames
- Maintain accurate billing records and provider documentation
- Collaborate with the Division of Unaccompanied Children’s Services (DUCS) team to ensure seamless coordination and compliance
- Assist program staff to locate doctors, dentists, and other medical specialists that accept TAR Billing
- Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) required
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) preferred
- Medical Billing and Coding Certification preferred
- Experience working in a social service or healthcare coordination setting
- Experience collaborating with medical providers and managing medical billing processes preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (or the primary language of the youth in care) strongly preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish (if applicable)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; able to build and maintain positive provider relationships
- Knowledge of the cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of refugee and immigrant youth
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
