Position Summary
Provide leadership, coordination, strategic planning, and day-to-day administration of the Counseling Services Department. The Deputy Director of Counseling Services provides leadership, clinical oversight, and administrative supervision for the Counseling Services Department. This role supports the mission of the organization by ensuring high-quality, ethical, and compliant counseling services while supervising staff and supporting program development.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Provide leadership, coordination, strategic planning, and day-to-day administration of the Counseling Services Department
- Supervise and oversee department operations in alignment with organizational mission, goals, and objectives
- Interview, recommend, and support the hiring of Counseling Services staff
- Complete performance evaluations, scheduling, promotion recommendations, and corrective action for staff
- Ensure compliance with state licensing standards, contractual requirements, and professional standards
- Project, develop, and monitor departmental revenues and expenses; collaborate with Finance to maintain the department budget
- Implement and manage program changes related to grants and special initiatives, including accurate and timely reporting
- Conduct ongoing chart reviews to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, customized databases, and billing software
- Provide clinical supervision and support to counseling staff
- Manage crisis situations effectively in collaboration with leadership; evening or weekend availability may be required
- Maintain a limited part-time caseload as needed
- Remain current with continuing education and professional development
- Uphold strict confidentiality and demonstrate compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
- Provide clinical and administrative supervision to Counseling Services staff
- Ensure staff maintain required licensure, continuing education, and professional credentials
- Promote professional growth, accountability, and ethical practice
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field (required)
- Current State of Michigan licensure (LPC, LMSW, LP, or equivalent)
- Experience in clinical supervision and program management
- Knowledge of Women’s Specialty Services or willingness to gain expertise and maintain continuing education
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a community-based setting
- English required
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Community-based counseling environment
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and represent the organization positively
