Position Title

Departmental Analyst 9‑P11

This position supports the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development’s (MDARD) Qualified Forest Program (QFP). It requires applying knowledge of statutory requirements for the QFP, reviewing and analyzing QFP applications to determine if land qualifies for enrollment, and working cooperatively with landowners, county and township officials.

Position Description

Departmental Analyst 12:
Acts as the recognized resource and principal point of contact for MDARD QFP, serving as the Local Government Liaison. Responsibilities include determining land eligibility, coordinating with conservation district staff, interacting with local government units, preparing operational guidance, promoting the QFP, developing supporting materials, giving presentations, managing public speaking engagements, and maintaining the program website. Collaborates with QFP and MDNR staff to document status and accomplishments.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Education:

    Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
  • Departmental Analyst 9 – No specific type or amount is required.
  • Departmental Analyst 10 – One year of professional experience.
  • Departmental Analyst P11 – Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.
  • Departmental Analyst 12 – Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.

Education and Experience

For positions 9‑12, educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full‑time active‑duty experience at or above the E‑6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
