Overview
The Tribal Gaming Auditor 9-P11 supports the oversight responsibilities of the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) as prescribed in the Tribal-State Class III Gaming Compacts and related Consent Judgments. Plans and performs financial and compliance audits and reviews of Class III gaming at tribal casinos operating pursuant to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988, Tribal-State Class III Gaming Compacts, and related Consent Judgments.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board is a state agency dedicated to ensuring the conduct of fair and honest gaming. Our agency regulates recent forms of gaming and ensures fair, honest gaming to protect the interests of citizens of the State of Michigan.
CompensationThis position currently offers an initial $1,250 Signing Bonus and an additional $1,250 Retention Bonus upon completion of one year of satisfactory service. The bonus must be paid back if the employee leaves the department prior to completing one year in the position. This benefit is limited to new State of Michigan employees only; current employees are ineligible.

Team and LocationThe MGCB promotes an inclusive environment that values diversity, equity, and multiple perspectives. The agency may consider alternative and hybrid (remote plus in-office) work schedule requests based on operational needs. MGCB’s main office is in Detroit with satellite offices in Lansing and at Greektown Casino, MGM Grand – Detroit, and Motor City Casino. Some positions may not be eligible for remote work.
Hybrid schedules require a minimum of two in-office days per week and coordination with management. If approved for hybrid work, employees must establish a home workspace at their own expense, including a secure location, reliable internet, and appropriate lighting and furniture. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

EducationPossession of a bachelor’s degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.
ExperienceAuditor 9
No specific type or amount is required.
Auditor 10
One year of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records equivalent to an Auditor 9.
Auditor P11
Two years of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records equivalent to an Auditor, including one year equivalent to an Auditor 10.
Alternate Education and Experience
Auditor 9 - 12
Possession of a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification may be substituted for six months of experience at the P11 level. Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification may be substituted for one year of Auditor experience.

The Board conducts a personal reference screening, criminal background check, drug testing, and federal and state tax transcript checks, including fingerprinting candidates prior to a conditional offer of employment. A reference check from the current or most recent supervisor is required and should be included in the application.
Civil Service Rule 2-7 requires submission to and passage of a pre-employment drug test within 24 hours of a conditional offer; failure to test may rescind the offer. Civil Service Regulation 2.07 may sanction applicants who fail to test or provide false information as described. Civil Service Regulation 3.06 may sanction applicants for false statements or omissions during the selection process.
