The Michigan State Lottery was established under the authority of Public Act 239 of 1972 to generate funds to support Michigan’s public-school system. It generates revenue through the sale of lottery tickets at retail locations and over the internet. Profits from lottery revenue are used to supplement state education programs.
ResponsibilitiesThis position serves as the primary contact for promotional tickets, drawings, and awarding promotional prizes to winners. Responsibilities include coordination of promotional ticket distributions, drawing and awarding prizes, developing policies, procedures, and directives, overseeing fulfillment of monthly promotional ticket allotment, statewide consultation and guidance to winners, reviewing various public-facing lottery communications to ensure compliance with organizational needs, policies, and lottery directives, and maintaining and updating databases tracking lottery prize claims of $99,999 or more, as well as unclaimed prizes and promotional tickets.
This position also provides consultation and guidance to player inquiries ensuring accuracy and timely resolution.
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
- Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.
To be considered for this position, you must submit to the following initial background check requirements. In accordance with Civil Service Regulation 2.07, you may be sanctioned from applying to positions with the State of Michigan, permanently or up to three years, should you fail to pass/submit to the pre-employment drug test. Under Civil Service Regulation 3.06, you may be sanctioned from applying to positions with the State of Michigan if you make any false statements or omissions of a material fact during the selection process.
Civil Service Rule 2-7 requires that all persons who are not currently state employees submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test. The urine sample test must be administered within 24 hours; otherwise, the offer may be rescinded. Applicants must remain at the testing site until the testing process is completed, with a maximum of 3 hours to provide a sufficient specimen.
Refusal to test occurs if an applicant fails to provide a sufficient amount of urine within the allowed time. Positions within the Bureau of State Lottery will require a criminal history background check.
