Overview
The Senior Electrical Engineer serves as a technical leader in sustaining engineering forvlient’s instrumentation team. This individual is responsible for managing component obsolescence, supporting field failure analysis, and implementing hardware changes to improve product quality, manufacturability, cost and compliance. Leveraging deep expertise in embedded hardware design, and system-level troubleshooting, the Senior Electrical Engineer partners with cross-functional teams to ensure long-term product support, regulatory compliance, and smooth transitions through the product lifecycle.
The role requires a strong background in sustaining engineering best practices, with the ability to lead engineering changes from concept to implementation for released products.
- Provide hardware development leadership to sustain existing platforms, VAVE and Quality improvement projects.
- Digital and analog simulation, low voltage embedded hardware product design, schematic capture, PCB layout, design for manufacturability, design for EMC and product qualification and acceptance testing.
- Comply/Verify design meets applicable CE and UL requirements.
- Improve customer satisfaction by leading quality efforts to achieve complaint reduction by analyzing field failures and performing failure root cause analysis, corrective action development and resolution verification.
- Participate in product design and reliability reviews during new product development to ensure robustness of product design.
- Provide technical assistance in quality and reliability engineering disciplines to design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and suppliers to improve existing products.
- Partner with Operations and Manufacturing Engineering to investigate root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions for customer complaints
- Lead Quality/VAVE improvement projects following Neogen Product Development Process.
- Ability to meet short- and long-term deadlines.
- Effectively meet the needs of internal and external customers.
- Ability to travel ~ 10% (domestic & international).
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and at least 5 years of hardware design or quality experience required.
- Statistical analysis including process control and design of experiments
- Printed circuit board layout with high-speed digital and analog signals with understanding of signal integrity and emission best practices
- Experience with reliability testing techniques.
- Excellent people skills and ability to work with multiple business units/vendors.
- Proficiency in embedded Linux development, including hardware bring-up, driver integration, and system-level debugging
- Proficiency using Altium Designer
- Experience with electro-optical detection
