Project Manager – Civil Engineering (Roadway Design)
Location: Lansing or Detroit, MI

About the RoleWe’re seeking a dynamic Business Development / Project Manager with expertise in roadway and transportation design to drive growth while delivering high-quality projects. This hybrid role balances client development and project leadership, offering the opportunity to shape both business strategy and technical delivery.
What You’ll Do Business Development & Strategic Growth- Identify, pursue, and secure new transportation and municipal engineering clients.
- Lead proposal and RFP/RFQ efforts, including pricing, scoping, and presentations.
- Develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans aligned with organizational goals.
- Strengthen company visibility through branding, marketing, and relationship‑building.
- Oversee roadway and transportation project operations, including budgets, schedules, and resources.
- Ensure contracts are delivered on time, within budget, and with exceptional quality.
- Lead project and public meetings, ensuring alignment among stakeholders.
- Proactively address client needs and resolve project challenges.
- Provide hands‑on roadway/civil design expertise and technical direction.
- Mentor and supervise engineers, fostering growth and collaboration.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with DOT, municipal, and AASHTO standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years in transportation/roadway engineering and project management.
- 5+ years of experience in business development, proposal pursuits, or client‑facing roles.
- Proven success in winning and managing DOT, municipal, or county roadway projects.
- Existing transportation contacts.
- Proficiency with roadway design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station, Open Roads, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of roadway geometry, traffic safety, utilities, and municipal coordination.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to balance technical delivery with client relationship‑building.
- PMP, PTOE, PE.
- MDOT Certifications.
- Be at the forefront of shaping communities through innovative roadway projects.
