Position: Year-Round Tennis & Leadership Instructor (TEA)

Overview

The City of Lansing Parks & Recreation Department in partnership with the Todd Martin Youth Leadership Program is looking for part-time Year-Round Tennis & Leadership Instructors to instruct, coach, and mentor diverse groups of youth between 6 and 18 years of age. In addition, you can become part of a valuable team that will provide the tools necessary for youth to be successful in school and the community through leadership and life skills development.

Responsibilities
  • Providing tennis instruction in a positive, fun environment with as much individual attention as possible
  • Modeling life skills and leadership for all participants
  • Assisting program and site directors on all field trips while assuming responsibility for tennis program participants
Qualifications
  • Must be a High School Graduate OR at least 18 years of age or older (Submission of documentation which substantiates proof of age and/or diploma is REQUIRED - please submit with application).
  • Experience playing tennis is required;
    Instructors need to play tennis at an acceptable proficiency so that they can work with students of all levels.
  • Must be willing to acquire skills in tennis instruction, specifically teaching tennis progressions using the 10 and under tennis program from the USTA to competitive tennis at the high school level.
  • Experience coaching/instructing tennis and/or other sports is preferred.
