The Public Safety Rapid Response Officer will ensure the safety and security of Lansing School District students and staff by responding to emergency and non‑emergency situations, conducting investigations, and maintaining professional conduct. This role requires flexibility, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively in stressful situations. (Only Internal Applicants will be considered)
Qualifications – Education & Certification- Minimum high school diploma; some college coursework in criminal justice or related fields preferred.
- Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Science, or Law Enforcement is preferred.
- MCOLES certification as a police officer or under PA 330 is preferred, or the ability to pass MCOLES certification.
- Prefer experience in law enforcement, school or private security, the military, or related fields.
- Training in first aid, CPR, and other law enforcement‑related areas is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, ability to respond to emergencies, maintain confidentiality, and work under minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of investigation techniques, report writing, and familiarity with Microsoft applications.

- Promote professional relationships and maintain tactful, courteous interactions.
- Flexibly manage work schedules and assignments, ensuring compliance with department policies and standards.
$20.13 – $24.01 an hour (52‑week position).
External candidates will most likely start at the bottom of the salary skill level unless previous experience can be deemed as equivalent.
