Technician - ThinkBIG

Overview

The Technically ThinkBIG Program is a partnership between Mac Allister Machinery Co., Inc.,
Owens Community College
, and Caterpillar Inc. It offers a 2‑year Associate Degree in Caterpillar Dealer Technician/Diesel Technician and paid internships.

• Attend 8 weeks of classroom theory courses.
• Complete an 8‑week paid internship at a local Caterpillar Dealer.
• Engage in hands‑on tasks covering Electronics
  , Diagnostics
  , Engines & Transmissions
  , Hydraulics
  , and supporting general education.

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.

• Submit an online application.
• Provide a portfolio to that includes:
  • 300‑word statement of career goals.
  • Three reference letters from teachers, counselors, or former employers.
  • High‑school transcript for the final year.
  • Accuplacer or ACT results.
  • Mechanical aptitude test results (administered by Mac Allister).
• Deadline for portfolio submissions:
  March 30th.

The program reimburses per‑semester school costs based on semester grades. Graduates receive an Associate Degree in Diesel Technology and a career path as a Caterpillar Dealer Technician.
