Sustain Lawn & Landscape 📍 Greater Lansing Area 💲 $55,000–$70,000 Salary + Commission 🕒 Full-Time

Sustain Lawn & Landscape is a professional landscaping and hardscape installation company serving the Greater Lansing area. We specialize in outdoor living environments including patios, retaining walls, drainage solutions, grading, and custom landscape installations for residential and commercial clients.

Our team combines thoughtful design with high-quality craftsmanship to deliver outdoor spaces that are both functional and visually impactful. As our company continues to grow, we are expanding our design department to better serve client demand.

Sustain Lawn & Landscape is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Landscape Designer to develop customized outdoor living designs for residential and commercial clients.

This role works directly with clients from initial consultation through design development, helping transform ideas into buildable landscape solutions. The Landscape Designer collaborates closely with installation teams to ensure project vision and execution align.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy both creative design work and client interaction within a fast-growing outdoor construction environment.

• Meet with clients to understand project goals and site conditions
• Design landscape and hardscape layouts
• Prepare design concepts, plans, and presentations
• Develop planting plans and material selections
• Utilize landscape design software to create project visuals
• Prepare estimates and assist with project proposals
• Coordinate with installation teams during project execution
• Modify designs based on site conditions or client feedback
• Maintain accurate project documentation

• Experience in landscape design or related field
• Knowledge of plant materials and hardscape applications
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
• Experience using landscape or design software
• Strong communication and client consultation skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Degree or certification in Landscape Design, Horticulture, or related field
• Experience with 2D or 3D design software (AutoCAD, Sketch Up, or similar)
• Sales or client-facing experience
• Understanding of landscape construction methods

• Combination of office, field visits, and client meetings
• Site evaluations performed outdoors as needed
• Collaborative team environment with installation crews and management

• Full-time position
• Monday–Friday typical schedule
• Occasional evening client consultations may be required
