Preschool Classroom Assistant – Head Start Program – Part Time – Lansing, MI

Position: 28 hours per week, 4 days Monday–Thursday with occasional Friday. Pay: $15.00 per hour (no CDA) or $15.80 with CDA. Supports children’s development in a play‑based learning environment.

• Encourage children’s development through respectful, playful, age‑appropriate interactions.
• Assist the teacher and assistant teacher with individualized instruction, including physical activities, self‑help skills, reading, and storytelling.
• Support the teaching team, families, and bus drivers during arrival, transitions, and departure of children.
• Participate in health and safety activities and maintain a clean, orderly, and safe classroom environment.
• Document incidents involving children, families, and staff, and assist with other duties as defined.
• Assist bus driver with boarding, exiting procedures, and monitoring children’s behavior on the bus.
• Adhere to all mandated reporter requirements and be adaptable to working across four counties.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Coursework in Child Development; completion of a Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred.
• Preferred work experience in a childcare or related setting.
• Ability to engage in effective communication and develop safe relationships with staff members, children, and families.
