Project Accounting Specialist

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 + Annual Bonus

Our client is looking for a Project Accounting Specialist to join their team. In this role, you will handle essential accounting tasks, including managing contracts, processing payments, and ensuring accurate billing for construction projects. This position is ideal for an individual who thrives in a collaborative environment, has a love for numbers, technologically savvy, and embraces AI and the process improvements it's capable of making.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and process monthly invoices for construction projects while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

- Enter accounts receivable contracts, change orders, and project details into accounting systems.

- Reconcile accounts receivable billings with project budgets and ensure alignment with the general ledger.

- Monitor bank accounts daily for deposits and irregular transactions, taking appropriate action as needed.

- Post cash receipts, process payments to trade partners, and manage payment releases in relevant systems.

- Issue trade contracts and change orders, ensuring proper documentation and tracking execution.

- Track and verify insurance certificates and other required documentation for trade contracts.

- Order bonds and insurance for company projects, ensuring compliance with requirements.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and support the accounting department.

- Maintain a proactive approach to learning and contributing to departmental improvements.

Requirements

- At least 1 year of experience in accounts receivable, billing, or a related accounting role.

- Construction industry experience strongly preferred.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (vlook, pivot tables, writing formulas).

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teams, including remote coordination.

- Customer-service orientation with a focus on building positive relationships across departments and with clients.
