About the Program

The Mobile Crisis Response (MCR) program will add to our continuum of care, enhancing our ability to provide timely and effective crisis intervention and support to individuals and families in our community. This program will operate with an after‑hours crisis line, providing round‑the‑clock support for individuals in need, highlighting our unwavering commitment to ensuring help is available at any time and emphasizing our dedication to serving the most vulnerable and those in urgent need of assistance.

Position

Objective and Summary

UCAN is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to serve as a Mobile Crisis Response (MCR) Specialist. This role involves providing crisis intervention services during evening hours, including assessment, de‑escalation, and stabilization of individuals experiencing mental health crises.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Respond to crisis calls and referrals promptly and effectively.
  • Conduct assessments, provide de‑escalation techniques, and stabilize individuals in crisis.
  • Develop and implement crisis intervention plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Work closely with the MCR Team Lead and other team members to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Collaborate with other UCAN programs and community resources to provide integrated services.
  • Liaise with law enforcement, emergency services, and other community partners as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all crisis response activities.
  • Assist in data collection and analysis to monitor program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and submit reports to the MCR Team Lead as required.
  • Provide clients with information about available services and resources.
  • Offer follow‑up support to ensure ongoing stability and access to needed services.
  • Ensure that clients feel heard, respected, and supported throughout the crisis intervention process.
Education/Job Experience/Certification

Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in crisis intervention, mental health services, or a related field.

Special Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Strong clinical skills in crisis assessment, intervention, and stabilization.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle high‑stress situations with professionalism and composure.
  • Proficiency in data management and report writing.
Working Environment

Must be available to work during evening hours. Ability to travel within the service area as needed. Work may involve exposure to high‑risk situations and emotionally charged environments.
