Overview

CAES Mission Systems is seeking a Sr. Director, Plant Operations to join its Business Unit leadership team in Lansdale, PA and direct the Operations/Manufacturing efforts of several Mission Systems sites. This role will oversee Lansdale operations management and its Value Streams, as well as related functions, and will direct the efforts of existing operations leadership in Eatontown, NJ. The incumbent is responsible for strategy behind producing products on schedule, in conformance to requirements, and within cost objectives, with a focus on measurable manufacturing performance and customer satisfaction.

We develop innovative electronic solutions for the defense industry. This role emphasizes servant leadership, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the business, and requires visible leadership of key processes to support the mission.

Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain a Best-in-Class manufacturing operation, relentlessly driving strategy toward growth and achievement
  • With Mission Systems Leadership, ensure the setting and achievement of budget and operational performance including resources, output, quality, cost, delivery, and lead time
  • Lead change and develop a continuous improvement culture to deliver year-on-year operational improvements
  • Drive cultural change through Operations to focus on customer priorities of delivery, quality, and relationships
  • Establish, distribute, manage, and implement the Operations Strategy, including steady reduction of manufacturing lead times; maximize efficiency and productivity through process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration
  • Develop department budgets considering cost targets, manpower, material and equipment forecasts, and sales forecasts
  • Direct Operations and Manufacturing teams to accomplish Plan goals in accordance with established manufacturing and safety procedures
  • Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity, reduce cost and scrap, and increase manufacturing velocity; establish, implement, and maintain production standards
  • Monitor and drive financial and operational metrics, including KPIs; provide reports and escalate issues that may impact business objectives
  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes that provide visibility into goals, progress, and obstacles for key initiatives
  • Uphold organization policies and standards
  • Work with human resources to lead the team with integrity and foster a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment
  • Establish a succession plan for Operations to maintain business continuity and promote employee development
  • Ensure Environmental, Health and Safety considerations are addressed in line with local regulations, the CAES Zero Harm policy, and good corporate citizenship
Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in an operations management role within manufacturing, including business management and people leadership
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

WE VALUE

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience in electronics, Microwave and/or RF (radio frequency) manufacturing
  • LEAN greenbelt training (or the ability to undertake)
  • Change agent – embracing LEAN (Toyota Production System) and relentless advocate of Continuous Improvement
  • Strategic knowledge of production operations management for quality, yield and cost
  • Experience in strategic decisions involving standard manufacturing work (machining, assembly, etc.), including cost reduction, materials sourcing, line automation, financials and measures, workforce productivity and flexibility
  • Advanced knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management
  • Advanced problem-solving ability with strong ERP understanding and root cause analysis
