SummaryThe Supervisor provides leadership to improve the quality of the District s comprehensive, district-wide curricular program; plans and develops curriculum, instruction, assessment, program supervision, and the evaluation of instructional staff. The Supervisor provides oversight for developmentally appropriate curricular programs and promotes personal growth in teaching environments. Responsible for establishing effective relationships with students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members to enhance learning opportunities.
EssentialFunctions
- Assists schools in the implementation of district-wide assessments.
- Assists the schools in the development and accomplishment of school academic goals aligned to the district academic goals.
- Assists the Director of Curriculum in developing an annual budget for the relevant content areas, as well as oversees purchases and contracts.
- Coordinates the evaluation and selection, distribution, and inventory of instructional materials and equipment relevant to the content areas.
- Coordinates and facilitates periodic curriculum reviews in a manner consistent with the district s overall educational philosophy.
- Develops and delivers district-wide and school-based professional development programs related to responsible content areas.
- Provides input on district- and school-based professional development plans related to their content areas.
- Participates in district, regional, and state-level professional development opportunities.
- Supervises teachers, teachers on special assignment, and/or other professional staff collaboratively with principals and assistant principals.
- Supports schools in using district-wide and school-based data to inform instructional decisions.
- Leads or participates in district committees as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Professional Development.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Curriculum or Assistant Superintendent.
- Master’s degree in Education or related content area
- PA Certification in Curriculum and Instruction K-12
- At least five years successful teaching experience
- Minimum of three years of successful curriculum leadership
- Curriculum/instruction/assessment and PA Standards.
- Current educational principles, best practices, and procedures in curriculum, instruction, and program development, professional learning for staff, and assessing program needs in the assigned instructional specialty area.
- Organization and administration of curriculum, assessment, instruction, policy, student achievement data, and federal and state laws related to curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
- National, state, and local standards and assessments, and the ability to apply them to curriculum and classroom instruction.
- Accountability measures and achievement data analysis.
- Technology to support learning, data analysis, and communication.
- Effective instructional practices in the assigned discipline to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and nurture working relationships with various stakeholders.
- Flexibility.
- Excellent organizational, supervisory, and technological skills (i.e., Canvas, Google Suite, etc).
- Competence in observing, evaluating, supervising, and coaching special education staff.
- Time management skills.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, the community, and administrative staff.
- Remain calm and diplomatic in stressful situations.
- Weigh options, think rationally, and evaluate accurately to make sound judgments.
- Work independently and as a member of a team.
- Supervise and monitor the work of assigned staff.
- Establish priorities, organize resources, problem solve, seek appropriate resources and consultation from other staff members as necessary, and commit to ongoing professional learning.
- Guide and train teachers in effective instructional techniques and strategies.
- Support a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
