Job Summary :
The RN Unit Manager is responsible for the overall clinical and operational management of an assigned nursing unit. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, supervises nursing staff, maintains regulatory compliance, and supports efficient unit operations. The RN Unit Manager serves as a clinical leader, mentor, and liaison between nursing staff, administration, patients, and families.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Patient Care

Oversee and coordinate patient care activities on the assigned unit

Ensure nursing care is delivered in accordance with clinical standards, policies, and regulatory requirements

Monitor patient outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives

Address and resolve clinical concerns, incidents, and patient/family issues

Staff Management & Supervision

Supervise, mentor, and support RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and support staff

Participate in hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and staff evaluations

Provide ongoing education, coaching, and performance feedback

Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet patient care needs

Administrative & Operational Duties

Manage unit schedules, staffing plans, and productivity

Ensure accurate and timely documentation and compliance with EMR standards

Monitor supplies, equipment, and unit resources

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and leadership to improve unit operations

Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accrediting agency regulations

Participate in audits, surveys, and quality assurance initiatives

Promote infection control, safety practices, and risk management

Maintain unit readiness for inspections and regulatory reviews

Work Environment

Hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, or long-term care communities

Primarily day shift with flexibility for evenings, weekends, or on-call responsibilities

Qualifications & Requirements
Required

Current  Registered Nurse (RN)  license in good standing

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Minimum  2–5 years of nursing experience , with  1–2 years in a leadership or supervisory role

Strong knowledge of nursing regulations, standards of care, and best practices

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and health requirements

Preferred

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher

Previous experience as a Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Unit Manager

Experience in the specific care setting (acute care, SNF, LTC, rehab, etc.)

Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems

Certification in Nursing Leadership or Management (e.g., NE-BC, CNML)

Physical Requirements
